Sonowal Inaugurates Key Inland Waterway Projects on Brahmaputra

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday inaugurated three major inland waterway infrastructure projects on the Brahmaputra, reinforcing Assam’s role in boosting water transport in the Northeast. The projects include Customs and Immigration Complexes at Bogibeel and Dhubri, and the renovated IWAI Heritage Building in Dibrugarh, all along National Waterway-2.

Sonowal said the initiatives will strengthen trade, tourism and logistics, reduce transport costs and improve connectivity with Bangladesh and Bhutan. The facilities are expected to enhance cargo and passenger movement while supporting economic growth in upper and western Assam.
