Student Detained in Assam Exam Scandal: Alleged Question Paper Leak Prompts Stringent Action
In a distressing incident, a student was detained by Hailakandi police in Assam on Wednesday following an alleged question paper leak during the ongoing higher secondary examination. The accused student purportedly leaked the Modern Indian Language (Bengali) question paper on WhatsApp after the exam had commenced. The police, after taking note of the incident, detained the student and confiscated a mobile phone that was smuggled into the exam center. The question paper and answers were reportedly exchanged in a WhatsApp group named ‘HSSC,’ with 10 members involved. A thorough investigation has been initiated, coinciding with the government’s recent introduction of the Assam Public Examination Bill aimed at preventing malpractices in various examinations conducted by the state. The bill encompasses a wide range of government-conducted exams, including those conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission, Gauhati High Court, and others, and was approved by the Assam cabinet in January.
