Tai Ahom Community Rallies in Sadiya for ST Status

Over 10,000 people joined a massive rally in Sadiya on September 26 demanding Scheduled Tribe status for the Tai Ahom community. Protesters carried bamboo torches and warned the government of political consequences if promises remain unmet before the 2026 Assam polls. Leaders accused BJP of delaying commitments made in 2014, while CM Himanta Biswa Sarma assured a report on ST status will be tabled in November.
