Tea Planters Oppose Govt Move to Allot Labour Line Land to Workers

Tea estate managements in Assam have raised objections to the State government’s plan to acquire and distribute labour line land to workers, saying it could harm the long-term future of the tea industry.

Planters are exploring legal action and have asked the Chief Secretary to ensure compensation and clarify welfare responsibilities under new labour codes. They also warned that the move may affect mortgaged land, disrupt workforce stability, and create operational challenges.
