Tea Production Drops Sharply in Assam and India in October 2025

Tea production in India witnessed a sharp decline in October 2025, with output falling to 161.93 million kg compared to 205.77 million kg in October 2024, a drop of 43.84 million kg, according to the Tea Board of India.
Assam also recorded a significant fall, producing 90.98 million kg in October 2025 against 114.69 million kg a year earlier. Big growers accounted for 48.92 million kg, while small growers produced 42.06 million kg.
The decline is widely attributed to climate change, with irregular rainfall and reduced sunshine affecting tea production across Assam and other tea-growing states.
