Tea Workers Protest at Digboi Bogapani Tea Estate Over Unresolved Grievances

Hundreds of tea workers from the Digboi Bogapani Tea Estate staged a protest in front of the tea factory on Wednesday, organized by the ACMA unit committees. The protest began with a call for a two-day work stoppage, with workers chanting slogans and displaying banners to express their frustrations. The unrest stems from promises made by the estate management on April 6 to address longstanding issues, which have yet to be fulfilled. The workers have presented a ten-point demand list, including immediate payment of retirement benefits to retired employees, repairs of dilapidated houses and toilets, and the filling of vacant sub-staff and permanent worker positions.
