Telangana HC Grants Pawan Khera One-Week Transit Bail in Assam Case

The Telangana High Court granted Congress leader Pawan Khera transit anticipatory bail for one week in a case filed by Assam Police over his allegations against Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The court allowed Khera time to approach the appropriate court for regular bail. His counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi termed the FIR politically motivated, while Assam’s Advocate General Devajit Saikia opposed the plea.

The case stems from Khera’s claims regarding undisclosed assets and passports, leading to an FIR under multiple BNS sections. The Chief Minister defended police action, stating it was part of legal duty.
