Tezpur University Students, Teachers Hold Hunger Strike

The crisis at Tezpur University intensified on Monday as students and teachers began a nine-hour hunger strike demanding immediate action by the Union Ministry of Education against Vice Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh. Organised by the Tezpur University United Forum, the protest accused the Ministry of prolonged silence despite weeks of agitation and unfulfilled assurances. Marking the 86th day of protests, stakeholders reiterated demands for the VC’s removal, a fair high-level inquiry, and administrative leave, warning of intensified agitation if no decision is taken soon.
