Tezpur University to Study Excavated Artifacts from Gupteswar Devalaya

Tezpur University will conduct scientific studies on artifacts from the excavation site of Gupteswar Devalaya in Dhekiajuli. Led by Dr. Deepi Rekha Kouli, archaeologists have uncovered a pre-Ahom stone temple with unique architectural features. Discoveries include an extended mandapa, brick walls, stone floors, and a sacred Sivalinga. Excavations began after a Nandi sculpture was accidentally unearthed. Samples collected for analysis may provide insights into ancient construction techniques. The site, spanning multiple dynasties, highlights Assam’s rich cultural heritage.
