Tezpur University VC Sent on Leave, Probe Panel Set Up After Protests

The Union Ministry of Education has asked Tezpur University Vice Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh to proceed on leave with immediate effect and ordered a three-member enquiry into allegations against him, following months of protests by students and teachers.

The panel, led by N Lokendra Singh, with Jagadish Kumar Patnaik and Manish R Joshi, will submit its report within three months.

Meanwhile, Amrendra Kumar Das has been appointed Pro Vice Chancellor. The unrest at Tezpur University began in September over alleged irregularities, environmental concerns, and administrative issues, with several faculty members leaving since then.
