The presence of toxic magnesium carbonate in 43 different pan masala brands has been officially acknowledged by the Assam government. This information was revealed at a recent Public Interest Litigation (PIL) hearing.

On behalf of the Assam government, Advocate General Devajit Saikia made the startling admission during the hearing, confirming the presence of toxic magnesium carbonate in these pan masala products.
