Three Coal Miners Feared Dead in Assam Rat-Hole Mine Collapse; Police Seize Rs 3 Crore in Raid

Following a suspected fatal landslide that trapped three coal miners in a ‘rat-hole’ mine in Assam’s Tinsukia district on May 26, authorities have launched an investigation. The Margherita sub-divisional administration and police have acted swiftly, conducting a pre-dawn raid on local coal trader Ron Lunsang’s residence, seizing approximately Rs 3 crore. Lunsang, believed to be involved in illegal mining operations at the Ledu Tikok West mining area, is currently absconding. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the trapped miners and apprehend Lunsang.
