Three Held While Attempting to Join ULFA-I After Leader’s Surrender

A day after ULFA-I leader Arunoday Dahotia surrendered near the Indo-Myanmar border, three youths from Assam were detained in Arunachal Pradesh while allegedly trying to join the banned group.

The trio—identified as Nabottam Bowlari, Jayanta Konwar, and Manjit Neog—were arrested in Changlang district and were reportedly in contact with Dahotia before his surrender.

Dahotia, considered a key aide of ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah and the last Pakistan-trained cadre, surrendered along with his security officer. His surrender is seen as a major setback for the outfit.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that peace talks will only progress if Baruah himself joins the dialogue.
