Tinsukia Police Thwart Effigy Burning Protest by AMSU

Tinsukia police prevented the All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU) from burning effigies of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and other officials in Tinsukia on Friday. The AMSU protesters were demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) for the Moran community members residing in Arunachal Pradesh. Despite the imposition of prohibitory orders, 11 AMSU activists, including women, were arrested as a preventive measure and later released.
