Tipkai River Floods Wash Away Houses, Submerge Crops in Gauripur

Gauripur, Assam: Incessant rainfall has caused the Tipkai River to overflow, triggering severe flooding and erosion in Gauripur’s Baghmara and Baraibari areas. More than 20 houses have reportedly been washed away, while hundreds of bighas of farmland remain submerged, causing heavy losses to farmers.

Residents have urged the Assam Government to take immediate flood-control and anti-erosion measures, warning that the situation could worsen if prompt action is not taken.
