Tragic Incident in Barpeta Road: Two Young Children Drown in Water-Filled Pit

In a devastating incident in Barpeta Road, Assam, two young children, aged between five and seven years old, lost their lives after falling into a pit near a mosque. The children went missing from their residence around 4 p.m. on May 30. Despite frantic searches by parents and neighbors, their whereabouts remained unknown until nightfall. A family member eventually discovered footwear floating in a nearby pit, leading to the discovery of the children’s lifeless bodies. The pits, initially dug for toilet construction, had filled with water due to incessant rainfall caused by cyclone Remal, creating a fatal hazard for the children.
