Transgender Student Leaves School After Swimsuit Photo Controversy

A transgender Class XI student was forced to leave South Point School in Guwahati after posting a swimsuit photo on social media. The student, who has been with the school since Class IV and formally revealed her gender identity in Class IX, was studying in the Arts stream.

During a family outing, the student shared a swimsuit photo online, prompting the school to object. The principal demanded the student either comply with school rules or leave. The student’s mother expressed concern over her mental health due to the harassment faced, leading the family to request a transfer certificate. The school issued the certificate and refunded the admission fee.
