Tripura Govt Signs MoU with GNRC to Set Up Superspecialty Hospital

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday announced that the state government has signed an MoU with Guwahati Neurological Research Centre to establish a superspecialty hospital at Hapania in West Tripura. The hospital will be built on vacant land belonging to Tripura Jute Mills Ltd.
The Chief Minister said a government team has already visited the Guwahati-based institution to review its infrastructure and facilities.
Saha also highlighted steps to strengthen healthcare services at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College. The state has signed an MoU with AIIMS New Delhi to improve healthcare services, including increasing ICU beds at GBP Hospital from 156 to 326 and connecting it with AIIMS through telemedicine.
Additionally, a 16-bed ICU for severe respiratory cases and another ICU at the trauma centre have been made operational. The government is also considering setting up a medical university to oversee medical institutions in the state.
