Two Arrested for Extortion in Assam in the Name of ULFA-I

In October, multiple extortion demands were made in Phillobari-Doomdooma, allegedly in the name of ULFA-I. Following coordinated police and military action, two youths, Apurba Moran and Abhijit Moran, were arrested for extorting money from locals.

Additionally, between October 26-30, seven ULFA-I overground workers were arrested in Upper Assam, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the insurgent group’s network. These actions follow ULFA-I’s claim of planting bombs across Assam on Independence Day, heightening security concerns.
