Two New Toll Gates Open in Assam, More Planned on Brahmaputra Bridge

Two new toll gates have become operational in Assam this month, increasing the total number to 12. A toll gate was opened at Rangamati in Golaghat district on January 13, drawing protests from locals, while another began operating at Sulung on the NH stretch between Kaliabor Tiniali and Tezpur.

With the new Sulung toll, travellers from Guwahati to Tezpur now have to pay fees at three toll plazas. Meanwhile, the state government is considering setting up a toll gate on the Guwahati–North Guwahati Brahmaputra bridge, scheduled to open on February 14. Bids have been invited for constructing a toll plaza for the bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 6.11 crore.
