ULFA-I Linkman Arrested for Planting Bombs in Assam on Independence Day

Manab Kalita, a linkman for the banned militant group ULFA-I, was arrested in Jorhat district for allegedly planting explosives across Assam on Independence Day. Kalita confessed to his involvement in placing bombs at multiple locations in Guwahati. He had also demanded extortion money from a tea garden owner in Upper Assam. Although several bomb threats were issued by ULFA-I on August 15, technical errors prevented the explosives from detonating. Police are investigating the case, but no official statement has been released yet due to security concerns.
