ULFA-I Suspected Cadre Held in Assam’s Sivasagar, Arms and Grenades Seized

Assam Police arrested a suspected ULFA-I militant during an operation in Sivasagar district and recovered a pistol, live ammunition, and eight grenades from his possession. The accused, identified as Rontu Asom alias Biren Chetia from Dibrugarh district, was apprehended in the Palengi area following intelligence inputs.
Police suspect his links with the banned outfit’s network in Upper Assam and are investigating possible connections with other active members. The arrest comes amid intensified anti-insurgency operations across the state to curb renewed militant activities and recruitment efforts.
