ULFA(I) Chief Paresh Baruah Still in China, Reveals Surrendered Leader

Recently surrendered ULFA(I) leader Arunodoi Dohotia has revealed that outfit chief Paresh Baruah has been in China and has not visited the group’s Myanmar camps for over a decade. Police said Dohotia’s surrender provided fresh insight into the weakened state of ULFA(I), especially after recent drone attacks on its camps.
Dohotia said morale among cadres is low and many recruits lack ideological grounding. He also cited internal distrust, noting Baruah planned the Kakopathar attack without informing him. Many militants want to surrender but cannot leave Myanmar bases, now overseen by senior leader Michael Deka Phukan. Dohotia’s family remains in Myanmar as he could not bring them during his surrender.
