Upper Assam Transport Associations Threaten to Boycott PM’s Assam Visit
Ahead of PM Modi’s September 13 visit, transport associations in Upper Assam warned they won’t provide vehicles unless fares are revised. They called the current Rs 2,448 compensation per vehicle “too low” and cited pending dues from past events. Associations also raised concerns over low staff wages, pending payments, and limited fitness testing centres. They demanded higher fares and clearance of dues, warning of a boycott if demands aren’t met.
