UPPL Signals Solo Contest in BTR, Alliance with NDA Uncertain

After the Assam Assembly election schedule was announced, UPPL hinted it may contest all 15 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region independently. Party chief Pramod Boro said most candidates are finalized and a final list will be released soon.

UPPL has also sought clarity from BJP regarding its position in the NDA. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma indicated BJP will contest only four BTR seats and any seat-sharing with UPPL must involve BPF.

This has created uncertainty over UPPL’s alliance with NDA and suggests shifting political dynamics ahead of the April 9 elections.
