Veteran Assamese Actress Purabi Sarma Passes Away

Guwahati: Veteran Assamese actress Purabi Sarma passed away on Tuesday evening after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

A renowned figure in Assamese cinema and theatre, Purabi Sarma starred in several acclaimed films, including Ragini, Kanyadaan, Son Moina, Nayak and Porobhat. She is survived by her husband, noted actor, writer and director Tapan Das. Her demise has been widely mourned by the Assamese film fraternity.
