Vigilance and Coordination Cut Train–Elephant Collisions Near Deepor Beel

Strict monitoring by forest officials, coordination with NF Railway, and public cooperation have sharply reduced train–elephant collision risks in the Deepor Beel area. In 2025, forest staff stopped trains eight times and issued nearly 100 caution alerts to ensure safe elephant crossings, mainly in Mikirpara and Watch Tower corridors. Speed restrictions and timely alerts, supported by local residents, have been key to protecting both wildlife and passengers.
