Viking Brahmaputra Cruise to Begin Operations on River Brahmaputra by 2027
Viking Cruises will launch its first India-based vessel, Viking Brahmaputra, by late 2027 on National Waterway-2, spanning 891 km from the Bangladesh border to Sadiya. Built by Hooghly Cochin Shipyard, the 80-guest cruise signals rising interest in river tourism. The government plans cruise terminals in Guwahati, Silghat, Biswanath Ghat, Nimatighat, and Guijan. IWAI aims to boost eco-tourism with 51 new cruise circuits across 47 waterways by 2027 under the Cruise Bharat Mission.
