Violence Erupts During Assam By-Polls in Samaguri

As voting for Assam’s by-polls began, violence broke out in Samaguri, with clashes reported at polling booths 89 and 90 in Salmari. Alleged BJP workers vandalized booths, intimidated Congress polling agents, and clashed with police, resulting in four injuries. Security was tightened in response.

Additionally, an EVM malfunction at booth 99 caused voting delays. Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain and Tanzil Hussain lodged an FIR against BJP workers for alleged hooliganism outside Hussain’s residence in Nagaon. Rakibul expressed frustration over escalating violence, threatening to quit politics if unrest continues.
