Wild Elephant Found Dead in Nagaon Paddy Field, Suspected Electrocution

A wild elephant was discovered dead in a paddy field in Pahar Toli, Nagaon, on Friday, just days after two similar incidents in West Kamrup. Forest officials suspect electrocution as the cause but await post-mortem results for confirmation. Local residents reported frequent elephant visits to their fields, causing damage. Forest Range Officer Samim Akhtar stated that legal action will be taken once investigations are complete. This marks a concerning rise in elephant deaths, with electrocution often used illegally to deter the animals from crops.
