Wild Elephants Damage Farmland Near India–Bhutan Border

A herd of wild elephants caused extensive damage to farmland in villages under Bijni subdivision in Chirang on Wednesday night. Large areas of crops and betel nut plantations in Sikajhora villages were destroyed, leaving farmers devastated.

Forest officials have visited the affected area to assess the damage. Locals say such incidents have become frequent, with elephant herds entering the villages almost every night. Residents now fear for their safety and livelihoods and are urging authorities for immediate action.
