Woman Alleges Assault During Flood Relief Distribution in Nazira

Nazira, Assam: A woman has alleged that she was assaulted and subjected to indecent behaviour during the distribution of flood relief materials in Ward No. 9 of Nazira town on August 6.

According to her complaint, Syeda Rafika Rahman alleged that Ranjit Barman, husband of ward member Lakhimi Barman, grabbed her by the neck, pushed her and threatened her while she had gone to collect government relief.

Rahman also alleged that some people present at the location, including Rita Sahu and a few BJP workers, instigated the incident.

She subsequently lodged an FIR at Nazira Police Station, seeking an investigation and legal action. The allegations are subject to police investigation.
