Woman Injured in Forest Department Firing in Assam’s Lanka
A woman, Khudeja Khatun, was severely injured after being shot by forest department officers in Assam’s Lanka on Tuesday. Khudeja and seven other women were gathering firewood in the Lumding forest area when four officers from the Nakhuti Forest Office allegedly opened fire without warning. Khudeja was struck three times, with injuries to her head and back. She was initially taken to Lanka Primary Health Center and later transferred to Hojai Civil Hospital for further treatment due to the seriousness of her injuries.
