Yumnam Khemchand Singh Sworn in as Manipur Chief Minister

Senior BJP leader Yumnam Khemchand Singh was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Manipur on Wednesday, ending nearly a year of President’s Rule in the state. Governor Ajay Bhalla administered the oath in Imphal after President’s Rule was lifted following prolonged ethnic unrest. Singh was chosen by consensus of over 45 MLAs. A two-time MLA and former Speaker, his appointment is expected to help restore political stability in Manipur.
