A shocking fraud case emerged in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, as ₹1.46 crore vanished from a joint SBI savings account. Account holder Retmilla Rongdeng Sangma filed an FIR, alleging bank involvement. A clerk, Easter Momin, confessed to siphoning funds through forged cheques and online transfers. Sangma’s mobile number was changed without consent. Despite multiple complaints, SBI only assured an internal probe. The victims are still awaiting compensation and action against the culprits.
