16th Finance Commission Visits Tata’s Semiconductor Project in Assam

A delegation from the 16th Finance Commission, led by chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, visited Tata’s semiconductor project site in Jagiroad. The visit assessed the region’s semiconductor potential and its impact on economic growth and job creation. The team also inspected Kaziranga National Park to evaluate fund utilization. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier conducted the Bhoomi Poojan for the Rs 27,000 crore plant, aiming to make Assam a global electronic hub.
