18-Year-Old Girl Missing After Falling from Dilapidated Wooden Bridge in Assam’s Chirang District
A shocking incident occurred in the Chirang district of Assam when an 18-year-old girl went missing after falling from a wooden bridge over the Kujia River in Rabhapara village on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 3:30 pm as the girl, identified as Junmoni Rabha, was traveling on a scooter with her 2-year-old niece. The child was rescued with injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team and police launched a search and rescue operation following the incident.
Junmoni Rabha had come to visit her sister in Rabhapara two days prior. The incident has been attributed to the poor maintenance of the wooden bridge, which has been in a dilapidated state for a long time due to neglect from the administration. The bridge, used by hundreds of people, had not received attention from the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration until now.
