23 Sentenced to Life in 2012 Charaideo Witch-Hunting Case

A Charaideo court sentenced 23 people, including 11 women, to life imprisonment for the 2012 witch-hunting murder of Fuleswari Halua. The victim was tied, beaten, and burnt alive near the Nagajan river. The court also imposed ₹5,000 fines on each convict and directed ₹8 lakh compensation to the victim’s family. Former VDP secretary Hemanta Daimari was fined ₹3,000 for negligence.
