307 Illegal Weapons Surrendered in Manipur Amid Governor’s Call

Manipur saw a strong response to the Governor’s call for the voluntary surrender of illegal weapons, with 307 arms submitted on Thursday. Of these, 246 were surrendered by Arambai Tenggol at the 1st Manipur Rifles campus, while 61 came from other locations.

The police acknowledged the contributions of youth volunteers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and women’s groups in ensuring a smooth surrender process across valley and hill districts.

The surrendered arsenal included rifles, shotguns, pistols, explosives, protective gear, and communication devices. Police emphasized the role of this initiative in promoting peace and warned of legal action against those retaining illegal weapons after the surrender deadline.
