31 Suspected Bangladeshi Nationals Brought to Malda

Malda: Thirty-one Bangladeshi nationals, arrested in Bengaluru during a police drive against suspected illegal immigration, have been brought to Malda in West Bengal. They have been placed at a holding centre, while authorities have initiated the process for their return to Bangladesh.

The arrests were made during Karnataka Police’s ‘Operation Mukt’ on August 9, when documents of 2,944 people were verified and 105 were identified as suspected illegal immigrants. The 31 detainees were transported to Malda under police escort and are expected to be handed over to the BSF after completion of the required legal formalities.
