ISRO Successfully Launches EOS-05 Aboard GSLV-F17

Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the GSLV-F17 carrying Earth observation satellite EOS-05 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 2:55 am on Friday. The satellite was placed into its intended sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit, with ISRO chief Dr V Narayanan calling the mission a significant achievement.

Mission Director Thomas Kurian said EOS-05 is the heaviest satellite launched by GSLV into a sub-GTO orbit and is designed to provide near-real-time Earth imaging from nearly 36,000 km altitude. Meanwhile, Dr Narayanan said preparations for the first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission are progressing systematically, with its launch targeted for this year.
