47 Dogs Rescued, Five Arrested in Anti-Smuggling Operations in Assam

In Assam’s Golaghat district, police have rescued 47 dogs and arrested five individuals involved in smuggling. On May 29, 22 dogs were rescued, followed by another 25 dogs on May 31. Three vehicles used for transportation were seized.

Earlier, proactive measures by Barak Valley-based animal welfare NGOs led to the rescue of 14 dogs from smugglers in Cachar district. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta reported that these dogs were recovered from Ramnagar near ISBT, and two people were detained for interrogation.
