50-Year-Old Man Swept Away by Noa River Currents in Assam

A 50-year-old man, Jagadish Biswas, was swept away by the strong currents of the Noa River in Kalaigaon, Udalguri district, Assam, on Saturday. The incident occurred while Biswas, a resident of Gerua village, was returning home after attending a villager’s cremation and tried to cross the river.

National and State Disaster Response Force teams launched a search and rescue operation, with local authorities also present to oversee and support the efforts. Despite ongoing efforts, Biswas has not yet been found. The incident has left the village in shock and mourning.
