60 Families Evicted from Brahmaputra Riverbank in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: The district administration carried out an eviction drive in the Maijan area, removing around 60 families who had been illegally occupying government land along the Brahmaputra riverbank for over a decade.

The operation was conducted following a court order and proceeded peacefully. Many evicted residents claimed they had purchased the land from brokers, paying between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, believing the plots were legal.
