Tragic Drowning Claims Lives of Two Young Girls in Assam’s Bajali District

A heart-wrenching incident unfolds in Bajali district, Assam, as two young girls, Afsana Khatun and Elija Khatun, lose their lives in a drowning accident in the Pahumara River. The girls, accompanied by a friend, had gone to the riverbank for a bath, but tragedy struck when they ventured into deep waters. Despite prompt response from local authorities and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), only one girl could be rescued. The bodies of Afsana and Elija were recovered from the river, leaving the community in mourning.
