Constable Arrested Under POCSO Act in Jorhat

In Jorhat district, Assam, a shocking incident occurred where a constable named Aarohan Phukan was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl under the pretext of love. The victim’s mother reported that Phukan had formed a romantic relationship with the girl and used to request inappropriate photographs and videos via WhatsApp. The accused also allegedly made her photographs viral on social media. The family filed a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act. The investigation is ongoing, and Phukan has been remanded to Jorhat Central Jail.
