Accused Kidnapper Injured in Police Firing During Escape Attempt in Assam’s Cachar

A 32-year-old man accused of abducting a teenage girl sustained bullet injuries during a police firing incident in Assam’s Cachar district. The incident occurred in the Binnakandi area when the accused, who was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 19-year-old girl, tried to escape police custody by attacking an officer, taking advantage of the darkness.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta reported that the accused, a married man and father of two, was shot in the leg as the police resorted to firing when he attempted to flee. Both the accused and the injured police officer were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
