Tiger Attack in Nagaon District Leaves One Critically Injured
In another instance of man-animal conflict, a person was critically injured in a tiger attack in Nagaon district on Sunday. The incident occurred at Puthimari in Juria, near the Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, around 8 a.m. when Abdul Rejjak went to his paddy field and encountered the tiger.
Rejjak survived the attack but sustained severe injuries and was taken to Nagaon Civil Hospital by locals. The locals, responding to Rejjak’s screams, managed to drive the tiger back into the forest. They also alleged that forest department officials did not arrive at the scene following the incident.
A relative reported that Rejjak is in critical condition and undergoing treatment. A forest official suggested that the tiger may have ventured out of the sanctuary in search of food due to recent floods, which have submerged parts of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, displacing many animals.
