Rehab Centre in Assam Sealed After Mysterious Death of Meghalaya Youth

Following the mysterious death of Niksamseng Marak, a youth from Meghalaya, the New Life Foundation Rehabilitation Centre in Nayapara, Goalpara district, Assam, has been sealed by the district administration. The sealing operation was overseen by Debojit Das, officer-in-charge of Goalpara Sadar Police Station, Dr. Janbir Das, Sub Divisional Health Officer, and Dr. Upamay Nath, Assistant Commissioner.

Marak was found dead on the night of July 3 inside a bathroom at the rehab centre, initially appearing to be a suicide. However, CCTV footage later revealed that the staff and inmates had beaten Marak to death with rods.
