Restoration of Assam-Mizoram Railway Track Delayed Due to High Water Levels
The Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) announced that restoration of the Assam-Mizoram railway track, disrupted by heavy rains and soil erosion, will begin once water levels in the Dhaleswari River recede. The railway service between Bairabi and Silchar has been rerouted, with trains running only between Silchar and Jamira in Hailakandi. Local residents are affected, with disrupted food and fuel supplies. Restoration work is pending on-site verification by experts and is expected to take time.
